Michael Adams Family Update

Hello Grace Church Family and Friends!

ENGAGE 2016 was a tremendous blessing to us all! It helped us refocus our attention on our Great Commission Mission as a Gospel-centered church! Pastor Dennis Omondi blessed us with his preaching and Dr. Tom Bartlett led us in Spirit-filled worship… everything pointed us to Christ, the Gospel, the nations of the world and the Kingdom of God! We are so thankful for everyone’s help! We heard from new missionaries headed to the field and from our local community outreach ministries! My heart was touched and I know yours was as well! Pastor Dennis left us with this thought on Sunday morning, “Jesus wants all Christians to share the Gospel with all people — everywhere!” Think about these words and let the Lord use them to guide you in your daily walk as His disciple!

This Sunday, October 30 is Michael and Julie Adams last Sunday at Grace Church. The Lord has called the Adams to Yanceyville, NC to pastor Community Baptist Church. As you can imagine, they are excited about the Lord’s call upon their lives! Pastor Michael will be preaching Sunday morning at 11:00AM. After the Morning Worship Service we will have a POTLUCK LUNCH in the Fellowship Hall with their family! Let’s enjoy lunch together with the Adams family. We will also a LOVE OFFERING for their family. They have faithfully served the Lord here at Grace Church and this is just one way we can show our love and appreciation for their faithfulness to Jesus and His church! Michael and Julie have also requested that we dedicate Sarah Beth Adams to the Lord on this Sunday. If you would like to dedicate your new baby, please contact Seth Burdette at the church office (252-355-3500). This is going to be a great day of worship and praise to our God! Plan now to join us! Please do not miss this service! It is going to be a unique service… I promise! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me at 252-341-4017 or Seth at 252-355-3500.

PARENTS: Andy Sugg will be leading our children as they sing in our Morning Worship Service this coming Sunday. Andy, and others worked with our children during ENGAGE 2016 and they are excited about singing. They will be practicing tonight at 6:30PM. Your children are welcome to sing… bring them over tonight. They will love it and so will you!

God bless you… see you this evening at Grace Church!

ENGAGE SPEAKER (bio) ~ Pastor Daniel Shrader

What’s our Mission? We exist to glorify God by cultivating, equipping and mobilizing Christian leaders in Northeast Tennessee. What’s our Story? Daniel grew up in Greenville at Grace Church, got involved with Cru at ECU during his undergrad, and went into missions full-time.  Meredith grew up in Wendell, got involved with Campus Crusade (Cru) at ECU, and went on to grad school at ECU to become a physician assistant. We met doing missions work in Russia in 2004.  We share a passion for missions and discipleship.  We have been married for nine years and have two delightful children, Lily, 6 and Hosea, 3.  Daniel graduated with his M.Div from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2010, and today he is helping to revitalize a dying church by serving as the lead pastor, training pastors and church leaders through the Seminary Extension, and encouraging other church-revitalizers through a REV Brothers group. Meredith serves as a pastor’s wife and de-facto children’s minister.  She’s also a full-time homeschool mom, part-time PA, and part-time LuLaRoe Fashion consultant. Be a Servant!

Jesus said in Mark 10:43-44 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: 44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

Jesus was a great example! He taught His disciples how to serve. Jesus told those around Him that He did not come to be served, but to serve! What a powerful life lesson! Jesus went about feeding and healing people. Sure Jesus performed miracles, but as a man He was always looking for ways to touch the lives of people in need! Jesus served poor people! Jesus served hurting people! Jesus served people who had committed great sins! Jesus gave those around Him hope! Every time we serve someone we are showing them Jesus! Right now is a great time to go and serve someone in Jesus’ name! Today is the day! Touch someone today for Jesus’ sake!

Let me encourage you to be praying for our local community. Earlier today I drove out to check on some of our people. Flood waters are rising and they are concerned about their families and their homes! If my home and property were on the verge of being flooded I would want my church family and friends to pray for me! We all know someone who needs our prayers and a helping hand. Do what you can for those in need. Our dinner tonight will be used to serve those around us. If you know anyone needing food for this evening please call me at 252-341-4017. Let’s put feet to our prayers… serve someone today for Jesus’ sake!

Be safe and keep your eyes on Jesus… He is coming again! Revelation 22:20-21 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

On Mission for Christ!

ENGAGE SPEAKER ~ Pastor Dennis Omondi (Bio) ~ Friday, October 21 ~ Sunday, October 23

Dear Pastor Mike and Grace Church,

I hope you are well and the Lord is blessing your ministry! It is October and the conference is around the corner. I just realized that I never sent you my bio. Here it is:

I am a pastor of South Coast Community Church in Ukunda, Kenya – a Church that I founded two and half years ago after leaving a church that I had been pastoring for about 7 years. This was a revitalization project that went very well. It was about 30 people when we began, and it grew to 200 by God’s strength and grace.

I am also the founder and director of SERVE Kenya Ministries. This is a Ministry of Denton Bible Church in Denton Texas. SERVE exists to Cultivate, Equip and Mobilize Christian Leaders Worldwide (for us specifically in Africa). We have overseen the training of over 1000 pastors and Church leaders; we have 342 pastors currently in training around the country.

My wife, Allison, and I have been married for 9 years and have two adopted children from Kenya. Anjela, our daughter is 9, and BJ, our son is 5. They are a joy to parent and have amazing God-size stories.

I did Information Technology in Kenya, before leaving it to pursue my Bible Training Passion at Denton Bible Church in 2001. I graduated from Denton Bible’s Missionary Training Institute in May 2004 and left for Kenya in June of the same year to start SERVE Kenya Ministries. I am currently a student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.

Blessings!

Dennis Omondi
