The Apostle Paul was executed for his faith in Christ! He gave his life for Jesus and the Gospel. His early religious training put him on a collision course with the very Christ he lived to destroy! Paul’s beginning was marked by religious hatred and personal pride! The fact is this; Paul hated Jesus and persecuted Christians whenever and wherever he found them. However, the Lord in His grace saved Paul and sent him throughout the known world at that time to preach Jesus and the Gospel. Take a seat with the aged apostle in his jail cell. If you notice, he is reflective and peaceful. As he takes stock of his past three decades he concludes, 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. One thing sticks out for sure, Paul finished well! Someone has said, “It’s not how you start that counts, but how you finish!” Join me and let’s praise the Lord for His grace, mercy and peace! Don’t let the devil beat you up with your past! Instead, let your Lord bless you with your future! Fight on brothers and sisters, and remember the victory has been won in Christ! 1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL REMINDER: Grace Church has been a hub of activity this week. Preparations are being made for an exciting week of VBS fun for our church family and friends! Thank you Kelly Shelby for your hard work and thank you to everyone who has stepped in the gap to help this coming week! It all begins this Sunday night at 6:00PM. Keep in mind that VBS is your opportunity not only to serve, but to reach out and touch someone for Jesus! Both adults and children enjoy VBS… Let’s make this coming week fruitful days of service for Christ! Thank you again for caring and for serving our families, our children, and our community!
I can’t believe it, but we are halfway through 2017. Sunday is review day for us. It is VISION RENEWAL SUNDAY! We will take a look back at where we have been and then look forward to where the Lord is leading us in 2017! Be faithful and be in your place for Sunday. We will share updates from various areas of ministry. Your prayers are appreciated as we make final preparations for VISION RENEWAL SUNDAY! We will be recognizing a faithful servant of the Lord this Sunday as well. I can’t say too much here, but it will be special! Please don’t miss it!
God bless you and yours. Keep your eyes on Jesus… what a Savior!
The Lord gives me many opportunities each week to share the Gospel. Most of the time these doors open during conversations when people need answers for problems they face. You might assume that these people are all Christians. That is not the case… many are people that do not profess Christ nor do they attend church. So when I say opportunities I mean just that! So what do I do? I turn to God’s Word! They listen as I share the Good News of the Gospel and how it applies to their lives! Recently someone sent me these words from Ravi Zacharias, “Do not underestimate the role you may play in clearing obstacles in someone’s spiritual journey. A seed sown here, a light shone there may be all that is needed to move the seeker or skeptic one step further.” Think about what I am saying here. As a Christian, be prepared to answer people’s questions! They need your help, but most of all they need hope! The Apostle Peter put it this way in 1 Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.”
In our Sunday Evening Worship Service our special guests will be Clay and Danielle Gibbons. They are our missionaries to Britain (UK). Clay and Danielle have faithfully pursued God’s will for their family. They have their support and the proper papers and are leaving for their field within a short period of time. Your presence here Sunday evening at 5:30PM would bless their family! Plan to be here in the service. We have some special music planned as well… don’t miss it!
Remember there is no Wednesday evening dinner scheduled. We will have Pot Luck dinners once a month through June, July and August. Our Wednesday evening dinners will resume in September. Our Wednesday Pot Luck dinners provide a great time of fellowship… please join us. The dates are listed on our bulletin tab!
God bless you… see you tonight for Bible study at 6:30PM.
It is a tremendous privilege to live in America! By God’s sovereign grace we were born in the greatest country in the history of the world. For that, let’s be grateful! Why is America great? America is great because America is known for freedoms that allow every Christian to worship according to the foundations given in Holy Scripture. Sunday after Sunday with great liberty of soul my freedom guarantees that I can preach the Gospel unhindered without fear of unlawful interference. What a privilege… what a cherished right I possess. But how is all of this possible? Our Heavenly Father, no doubt, sovereignly rules over our affairs as a nation that is without question! At the same time, He uses men and women who vigilantly guard these freedoms we all possess as Americans. MEMORIAL DAY is the day that we as God’s people pay tribute to those of our Armed Forces who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom. As Christians and as Americans, let us not forget the religious foundations our patriotic forefathers have handed down to us. Also, let us not forget the blood, sweat and tears that constantly flows as a reminder of our freedom! Let us all be proud Americans and thankful Christians!
GRADUATE RECOGNITION DAY is scheduled for Sunday, June 4th. This time of the year always has its’ smiling faces because of Graduation Day! Yearly we acknowledge their accomplishments. At Grace Church we are proud of our graduates. Graduates, God has blessed you with all that you have. Let the Lord use you and bless you as you move forward with your life. The Lord will be your Loving Friend and Constant Companion. TRUST HIM! Please join us on GRADUATE RECOGNITION DAY and let us bless you in the name of the Lord!
Let me also take a minute to encourage you as a child of God. Thank you for your faithfulness to Christ and His church! I stand amazed as the Lord continues to use us here in Greenville. As you go about your daily lives let the Lord use you to magnify your Savior Jesus Christ. You may be the only Bible some people ever see… you are “Living Epistles” for your Lord. What the Lord is doing in your life is worth sharing! Today is the day of salvation for someone you know. Share your faith today… someone needs to hear your story. Tell them today!
I trust you have had an enjoyable week! As you know, I am a warm weather creature so this week has been just fine for me. Earlier this week I had a doctor’s appointment. I am not a fan of going to the doctor or the dentist. I have doctor friends and dentist friends so this is nothing personal. I guess you could say I get a little nervous. When I arrived at the office everyone treated me as if they had known me for years. They were kind and helpful, which was a relief. Think with me about this for a minute. What if we treated people that came to our church just like the folks at the doctor’s office treated me? What do you think would happen? They would very likely want to come back and be with us again. Right? As you come to the services, look for new people! Sometimes your friends bring their friends with them to church. Be sure to welcome them and make them feel at home! They might even come back and look you up! This is also true for Sunday Bible study times! Be a friend and make a friend… you will be glad you did!
Our Sunday School meets at 9:45AM. Please make every effort to be on time! This Bible study hour is crucial for your spiritual growth as a follower of Christ. If you are not presently attending a Sunday morning Bible study, please get connected with a class. You will make new friends and find great opportunities to fellowship with other members of your Grace Church family! You will also be able to get more involved in other ministries active in the church. If you want to join a class, please call Seth (252-355-3500), and he will point you in the right direction. Our teachers prepare every week to share God’s Word. They love what they do, and they would love to have you in their classes.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND is Sunday, May 28th. We will not be having an Evening Worship Service on this weekend! Enjoy your time with your families, and pray for our nation. As Christians, we possess the power to alter the direction of our country. The Lord calls us to pray for our national, state and local leaders. Please take some time and pray! The Lord hears and answers the prayers of His righteous people! Let’s do this together! God bless you!
2 Chronicles 7:14 … if my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
Yesterday (Thursday, May 4) was our National Day of Prayer. Prayer is a vital lifeline for every child of God. Silence is golden except when it comes to prayer! Scripture often describes prayer as “crying out” to God. Prayer is also characterized as “humbling yourself before the Lord.” Prayer in the lives of God’s people is also connected to experiencing “the presence of God.” Yes, prayer is a vital lifeline for each of us as Christians. Daniel prayed morning, noon and night. With this practice, Daniel was following King David. Psalm 55:17 says, Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice. Daniel is a powerful example of how prayer comforts and sustains us in the hour crisis! Are you in the “lion’s den” today? If so, cry out to the Lord, humble yourself before Him, seek His presence and pray! And then, expect deliverance! Daniel 6:21-22 says, Then said Daniel unto the king (Darius), O king, live forever. 22 My God hath sent His angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. Praise the Lord our God still answers prayer!
Thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord! I thank the Lord for you! What a great joy it is to pastor such a loving group of people. Jesus said that men would know His disciples by the love they have for each other… this is true at Grace Church. This past Wednesday evening there was such a sweet spirit of fellowship at the church. Most Wednesdays I leave church around 8:00PM and take dinner over to DR and Phyllis Daniels. This gives me a few minutes to reflect on my GYMTime Men’s Bible study and my fellowship with the church family! There is no doubt; this is one of my favorite times of the week! Thank you again for being the body of Christ… it brings glory to His Name!
This Sunday we will serve the Lord’s Supper. Jesus instructed us to serve this “Supper” in remembrance of what He has done for us in redemption. Jesus said, “This do ye in remembrance of Me.” As His body, as the church He loved and gave Himself for, we will obey His command! Every member should be present. Do your best to be in your place, and let’s remember and reflect upon the salvation we have in Christ!
A few months ago I began a series of messages through The Revelation. As you know it has 22 chapters and we are now in chapter 7. This has pricked my interest in the Second Coming of Christ and what the Bible says about it. I have taught The Revelation before but for some reason this time I have a somewhat deeper interest. I hope you will join us on Sunday evenings at 5:30PM for these messages. Each week I teach verse by verse through a number of verses. These messages are informative and current. Each week I seek to apply the Scriptures to our everyday lives. You will enjoy the study. I normally finish my message at 6:30PM. We have some wonderful singing and good fellowship in this evening service as well.
Recently the Lord has also been working on me about Scripture memory. I have decided to work on this area of my spiritual life. Scripture memory requires serious discipline. The benefits of memorizing Scripture are huge. Listen to Psalm 119:9-11 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. This is a life changing truth! Think about it; maybe you can join me and let’s do some Scripture memory together!
REMINDER: On Sunday morning our Grace Church Children’s Choir will be singing two songs! They are doing a great job! Plan to be in Sunday’s service to hear them. They meet on Wednesday evenings for a Bible lesson and to practice their singing. Last week they had 18 children. If your children are not involved they should be! This is a great opportunity for your children to sing for the glory of God. I hope you will take advantage of this good ministry!
Also, if you did not have a copy of our Faith Promise Missions Ministry brochure… please pick up a copy when you come to the services. Thank you for supporting FPM! Obedience to the Great Commission is essential for every Christian church!!! We exist as worshippers for the purpose of making Christ known to the nations! Please get involved in FPM by giving financially to support our present missionaries. THANK YOU!
Recently Cheryl and I traveled over 16,000 miles to and from Kenya! It really was a great trip. Our April, 2016 version of the same trip was filled with schedule changes and flight time changes. It was awfully tiring! Our recent trip was much better. One thing that I noticed was the people. People from all over the world filled the airport waiting areas. I asked myself the question, “I wonder how many of these people know Jesus? I wondered how many of them had heard any form of Gospel presentation. At times it was overwhelming to conclude that they were in darkness without a witness for Christ! I want to encourage you to do two things:1)Be a witness for Jesus. Share with others what someone else shared with you. Sharing your story of how you came to Christ is a powerful to spread the “Good News.”2)Give to our Faith Promise Missions Ministry. If we all gave out of what the Lord has given us, we could add some new missionaries. We could expand our mission outreach! Right now we have some wonderful families needing our support. Do your part to financially support our missions outreach. Just this week one of the families that came to ENGAGE 2016 called and asked if we couldsupport them. They are ready and willing to go to South Africa. I am asking you to do something special… support families that want to go overseas to evangelize and make disciples for Christ. Join me and Cheryl and give to Faith Promise Missions. If you already give and can add to what you are presently giving, that would be awesome. Let’s come together and support the Great Commission. Sharing and giving go together. You do not have to be a member of Grace Church to give to missions. Go online at gracechurchnc.com. There you can designate your gift for missions. You will not regret giving to missions. You will in fact feel honored to help others go because you gave!
On Saturday, April 15 from 11:00AM-1:00PM we are hosting a Children’s Easter Activity. We will have an Easter egg hunt and lunch together at our picnic area. This is will be a fun-time for your family and for our church. This activity is also an opportunity for you to invite your friends to join you. What a great way to introduce them to your church. Our Sunday School classes are helping us with candy and food for lunch. Don’t miss it! If you have any questions, please see Pastor Jamin and Kelly or call Seth at 252-355-3500. They can help you with your questions!
Easter Sunday is April 16! Pastor Jamin and our worship ministries have some tremendous music and singing planned for our Easter Celebration. The theme for our Easter Worship Service is ALL RISE! The Lord is worthy of every ounce of praise we can give Him!!! Psalm 150:6 says, Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. YES! Easter is going to be a great time of honoring our Risen Lord! I can’t wait! Pray with me for EASTER SUNDAY!
